Spiritual

Since its conference weekend and all...

What is conference weekend usually like for you? Who are some of your favorite speakers? Do you play any games or have any special traditions you do for conference?

  1. I haven't really set up any "traditions" or anything since this is the first time after marriage I've watched conference without my family. I don't really have any favorite speakers really. There seem to be different speaker's talks I enjoy most every conference. I would like to set up a special breakfast or lunch, a game of Bingo or something for Eden when she gets a little older, I don't know. I'll have to start thinking about it more I guess...

  2. I don't know about traditions besides spending time with family. I do love conference weekend because it seem that there are always certain talks that are just for me at the period of life I am in. On of the speakers I use to really enjoy was Elder Maxwell.

  3. We invite our children with their families to watch and listen to General Conference with us. Those that come are well fed with food and the spirit. If there are children old enough to understand words, we set up Conference Bingo. We use candy and coins for markers. The coins are especially popular for the adults. Usually, Julie bakes rolls (but not this year). For the April Conference, she usually makes creamed eggs over toast for breakfast. All of us have enjoyed these special food items.

  4. Conference weekend changes drastically when you have kids. But, it's still been enjoyable overall. We like to try giving the kids some church-related coloring pages, play conference Bingo, and sit and watch when the prophet is speaking. I also find I enjoy listening to conference while doing something with my hands (like making hats for infants (humanitarian stuff), writing notes about the talks, or even quilting. It helps me to listen more intently. I tend to concentrate on what's being said instead of letting my mind wander when I am multi-tasking. Plus, it's always fun to stock up on snacks for the occasion (especially when I was little). I have always loved listening to Pres. Monson (even before he was a prophet). He's a great story-teller and has more emotion in his voice (his smile is great, too).
