I met my husband, Tyson, on January 19, 2007 at a friend's cabin. More specifically, in the friend's cabin's hot tub. All of his friends wanted to go hot tubbing and even though he didn't want to, he went anyway. I had a friend who was completely boy crazy and begged me to go into the hot tub with her because it was full of guys. My first impression of him (and all his friends) were that they were really immature and nerdy. We got out of the hot tub and got dressed. I saw Tyson again, but didn't recognize him. I re-introduced myself and he reminded me that we had previously met. I, feeling dumb, said "Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't recognize you with your clothes on" in front of rest of the group of friends at the party. It was embarrassing. Then a bunch of us decided to watch a movie together. Tyson and I sat next to each other. His hand dropped down touching the side of my leg (although he claims it was totally by accident). I took it as a sign he wanted to hold my hand, so I decided to put my hand next to his despite the fact that I thought he was immature and nerdy. He then grabbed my hand despite the fact that he wasn't at all interested in me either. Tyson felt guilty not at least getting my phone number and taking me out on one date since he held my hand and I felt guilty not giving him my number and going on a date with him. So, his group of friends ended up giving us a ride home and that's where he asked for my phone number right before dropping me off for the night. That's how Tyson and I met.

  2. I met Shawn in the fall of 1993 at a dance (stomp as they called them back in those days) at Ricks College (now BYU Idaho...man...I must be getting old if everything is called something different nowadays!) I met him through mutual friends (my FHE brothers). I was not interested in him, but later found out he was a math genius, so I figured he was an answer to my prayers since I was in dire need of a math tutor. He was "stalker" interested in me, and I was only into him for the college grade. Sad, but true. Fortunately, and as you can see from present circumstances, he eventually won me over.

  3. I met Ben in his apartment at Utah State University in Logan. I can't remember the exact day but it was sometime in September or october of 2005. Ben's roommate, Wes, was interested in my roommate. My roommate was never interested in Wes, but I got to be friends with Wes and hung out at their apartment. I remember thinking that Ben was nice when I first met him but it was mostly just a friendship.

  4. I met Calvin my freshman year at BYU. We were in the same ward and were the only "Asians" so my roomies thought we might be a good match. Our ward rotated FHE groups and were were in the same first group rotation. Ellen and Bill Meaders were also in the same group. One of the first dates we went on was to a play and I also asked him to a girls pref dance. In those days they had a concert the day before the dance. The concert for that dance was The Vogues and our "song" became "Turn Around Look at Me." We dated until the next August when Calvin went on a mission. We were engaged one and a half days after he returned.

  5. I met Eric on my mission in Manila, Philippines. I had only been on my mission for 3 months. My new companion, Sister Dulay and Eric (Elder Watson) were both transferred into my Zone on the same day. At our first District Meeting, Eric was talking to my companion. Outside of shaking his hand and introducing myself, I don't think I said a single word to him. His first impression of me was that I was very stuck up and snobby. I didn't have much of an opinion formed but within a few weeks I came to realize he was stubborn and hard headed. I felt sorry for whoever would eventually married him.

  6. I can add that our first meeting was at the first ward social. A 'Get to know you' event. We had a list of clothes and physical features like eye and hair color, etc. I signed her card and she signed mine. We could not date FHE family members, so our first real date was on the last day of our family. A Stephen Covey fireside. I fell in love at the Homecoming concert by the Vogues. I was leaning forward in my seat and looked back when they sang, "Turn Around Look At Me," and it was all over. The loneliest time of my life was that first Christmas vacation when I went back home. I was horribly love sick. It was a good thing Julie said she would not consider marriage until after I served a mission because she wanted to make sure I didn't have any regrets later.
