Right Now
What would your "typical weekday schedule" look like (ex: time you normally wake up, eat, go to work or school, play with kids, visit people, run errands, etc.)? What about your "typical weekend schedule"?
I try to map out a weekday schedule, but often don't follow a few things here and there (namely exercising and cleaning like I'm supposed to be doing now).
My normal schedule on a weekday would look like this (and yes it is sad that I have everything down to a tee with times...I lack spontaneity):
6:30-7:00 Wake up and make Tyson a lunch 7:00-8:00 Eden wakes up and we eat breakfast, give Eden a bath 8:00-10:00 Clean up or play with Eden 10:00 Put Eden down for a nap 10:00-12:00 Get ready, clean up, read scriptures, lounge 12:00-3:00 Eat lunch with Eden, run errands if I have any or do something fun with Eden like visit a friend or go somewhere 3:00 Put Eden down for 2nd nap 3:00-6:00 Clean up, Make dinner, lounge 6:00-8:00 Tyson comes home, eat dinner, play with Eden 8:00 Put Eden to bed 8:00-11:00 Clean up, relax, watch a movie or Law and Order with Tyson 11:00 Go to sleep
On the weekends I mostly relax, play with Eden, go to friend's houses, Tyson and I have date nights on Fridays, run errands, go to church and choir practice on Sundays.
Weekdays: I wake up between 4:00 and 5:00, do 30 minutes of back exercises, read scriptures for 15-45 minutes, eat breakfast and try to get to the bus stop in time for the 6:20 or 6:40 bus (sometimes 6:55). The scooter helps a lot.
I get off the bus on 400 South and walk to work at the Church Office Building on the 6th floor. I like to start work at 7:00, but usuall it is 7:30.
My goal is to go for a 30 minute walk during lunch. Without a walk, it is 30 minute lunch and with a walk it is a 1 hour lunch break and it affects when I get off work. So I get off work at 4:00 or 4:30. I am only supposed to work 40 hours a week, but sometimes the boss surprises us with work that takes us late and must authorize overtime.
Normally, I am home between 4:30 and 5:00. On days where I work over on Monday - Thursday, I come home early on Friday.
My schedule on weekday evenings changes week by week and day to day. Some week nights are a total waste of TV or movies. Other weeks I am doing useful things every night, like remodeling at Alyssa's house. I also prepare for scout meetings. I prepare the handout and various demonstations for the Cubmasters of the Great Salt Lake Council. Often, Laura and Alyssa come over and we play board games.
Monday through Friday I get up and if I am feeling well, which I haven't been lately because I have been sick, I exercise around 5:30 a.m. Then, I get ready and make breakfast by 7:30 a.m. I take Ben to trax so he can make to school on time and head to work.
At MediConnect, where I work, I sit in front of a computer screen and search through the database to match names on medical records to open requests for medical records. Sometimes I open mail in the mailroom. And, recently, I have been making phone calls to doctors offices to get fax numbers.
When I get home I make dinner, clean, and hang with Ben. Lately that consists of helping him study for his tests. On Wednesdays I teach flute lessons to two students.
Saturday consists of all sorts of activities. I clean, organize, play games, garage sale, and you name it.
Sunday, is my favorite day of course, because I get to relax and enjoy family time. I get to church by 9 a.m. and am in the nursery for two hours. Sacrament meeting is last. After lunch Ben and I often play music. At 3 p.m. we go to ward choir practice. In the evening we go to mom and dads and recently The Amazing Race started a new season so we watch that.
Right now I don't think I have a "typical" schedule. I usually wake up around 6:00 or 7:00 a.m. I usually work two days a week (typically Monday and Thursdays but that can change if I need to) and I have started walking three times a week (no set days). Tuesdays I am a humanitarian missionary from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. I have also started going to the temple once a week (subject to change if I am not able to make that commitment). I like to spend some time sewing humanitarian quilts at home.
Mostly I map out my week on Sunday and go from there.
Truthfully, for the past five or so years, my schedule has depended on the calling I've had. Between being YW President, Stake YW presidency, and RS President, much of my time is spent going on visits, planning and carrying out activities, making phone calls, attending to those in need and going to meetings. So, inbetween that, I plan my regular daily schedule.
Typically, Brayden goes to school at 8:10am and comes home around 3:20pm (except for when he's off track). McKell has preschool from 11:30am to 2pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. I volunteer in Brayden's classroom on Mondays and Fridays from 9:15-10:15am and help out with class parties. I also volunteer for PTA activities. Tuesdays are scheduled RS visits. It is also my presidency meeting nights. I do drop by visits for every sister's birthday. Other visits are just as needed. Friday nights are either date night or babysitting swap night (6-10pm), Thursdays a group of friends usually gets together around 11am for a potluck lunch, play time for the kids and socializing for the moms. I like to run errands whenever I can...usually trying to clump them all together in one day that I'm not too busy so that I can get it all done. I also enjoy spending time with family whenever possible. I exercise for one hour every day (treadmill, eliptical or DDR). I have been teaching McKell to read each day while Brayden's gone to school. I help Brayden with homework when he gets home from school. I read to Brayden at night. The deal with him is that I will read to him as many chapters as many chapters as he has read to himself that day. Then I read to McKell a couple books of her choice (she likes to choose I SPY books or the longest books she can find to stretch out her bedtime. Weekends include yard sales, Sunday church meetings, family time, yard work, and other misc. items that didnt' get done during the week.
