The only allergies I have are hay fever. I get it really bad when I'm around cut grass. I also have irritable bowel syndrome which makes it harder for me to digest many foods (dairy, fatty foods, red meats, etc) but I wouldn't say that I'm allergic to them.
Unlike most of my siblings, I have a fair amount of allergies. I have hay fever (and am allergic to most grasses, trees and pollen). I am also allergic to animals, especially cats and dogs that shed frequently. As far as medication goes, I am allergic to aspirin and penicillin...and have to steer clear of any medication that says "nighttime" on it since I react badly to them. Food allergies include: all melons (canteloupe, honeydew, watermelon), all tropical fruits that are not citrus (coconut, kiwi, mango, banana, starfruit, etc.), some raw vegetables (tomatoes, carrots, radishes, cucumbers - though I tend to still eat them, I just have to make sure I am eating them along with a bunch of other non-allergy items so they don't affect me as much. I also have extremely dry skin, so I have to lotion my body all the time and can't wear those lipsticks that stay on for 8 hours because they give me rashes (too bad!) Most of my allergic reactions include rashes, swelling of the lips, hives, and itchy throat, nose and eyes.
I am allergic to penicillin and macadamia nuts. I just barely learned that I was allergic to macadamia nuts because Laura brought home some macadamia nut oil from Australia. My mom, Laura and I all felt sick to our stomachs the day after we had some. We didn't realize that we were allergic until Beefy's mother-in-law mentioned that she is allergic to macadamia nuts and gets the same symptoms. I get a little hay fever after mowing the lawn but if I take a shower soon after mowing the lawn I am fine.
I am allergic to penecillin and/or sulfa. When I was young I had a reaction when I took both of those together. I am also allergic to ibuprofen, and codeine (I get hallucinations). Cats and dogs are not my best friends and I have a reaction sometimes to something (?) in the air mostly in the winter.
I'm not really allergic to anything that I know of. Though, when I get mosqito bites it swells up so big and is extra ichy for long long time. I guess if you count that as allergie there you go. I'm also really sensitive to smell and if it gets strong even the good smell things it gives me headache and makes me sick.
Luckily I am not allergic to any medications that have ever been administered to me. I am allergic to Huckleberries, grasses, weeds, dust, molds, trees, sawdust, etc. That is why I often wear a mask while doing yard/garden work or sawing wood or dusting in the house. Except for huckleberries, I don't let my allergies stop me. I consider my allergies and asthma a great blessing that have built my character and humility.
